How do Botox injections work?
Botox was discovered by accident over 20 years ago. It was used medically to treat facial tics around the eye area and a noticeable side effect was that wrinkles improved and is now used to treat expression lines predominantly in the forehead and around the eyes. Botox temporarily weakens the muscles that cause the skin to wrinkle creating a smooth, more youthful appearance. It lasts up to four months and the muscles regain enough strength to start working again.
-
Are Botox treatments safe?
Botox is a very safe treatment. There are hundreds of clinical studies that show it is perfectly safe if it is used in the recommended amounts by a qualified cosmetic doctor because it is a prescription drug. In 2006 the UK government approved the cosmetic use of Botox.
-
What is the treatment like?
The treatment is very quick and takes around ten minutes and any discomfort is short lived. The doctor will ask you to frown and then relax the muscles to establish where to inject. The treatment consists of a small series of injections that last about 3 seconds. Discomfort is minimal and afterwards a cold pack may be applied to reduce and swelling.
-
Are there any side effects associated with Botox?
Some people (around 10%) get a headache within 24 hours but this quickly resolves itself within 48 hours. Sometimes bruising can occur around the injection site. Also whenever the skin is pierced or broken there is always a chance it can get inflamed so leave your face alone and don't apply make-up (mineral make up is fine) for a few hours after the treatment.
-
What kind of results can I expect?
Botox is best used to treat the frown area, crow's feet and wrinkles at the top of the nose. You can expect the expression lines in these areas to smooth out. For the first few days you may not notice the difference but after a few days you will find it more difficult to make deep furrows and lines but it's a myth that is freezes all facial expressions. Provided you go to an experienced cosmetic doctor you will still be able to smile and emote but you will just look calmer and more relaxed! The effects wear off after 3-4 months.
-
What are the limitations of Botox?
Botox is ideal for lines in the frown area, crow's feet and wrinkles at the top of the nose but it is not ideal for filling deeper furrows like nose to mouth lines or for lifting the cheek area, or for the lips. You will need different fillers for these type of treatment.
-
What other symptoms can Botox be used to treat?
Botox is also used to treat migraines or stress related headaches and also excessive hand and underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis). It can also be used on the neck to treat the vertical lines from the jaw line to collarbone and the horizontal necklace lines. Some people suffer from a irregular or knobbly chin and it can be use to smooth this area and also bunny lines around the top of the nose that can be caused by squinting. More recently it has also been used to create a subtle lift in the neck area also known as a Nefertiti lift.
-
Are Botox treatments safe in the long term
Yes. There are hundreds of clinical studies that confirm its safety and it has been used for over 20 years. Although the cosmetic results of the treatment last for 3-4 months, clinical studied have shown that it is eliminated from the body after 3-4 weeks.
Botox in Haywards Heath
In the last 10 years botulinum toxin (or Botox) has turned into one of the most popular and efficient treatments at cosmetic clinics for getting rid of fine lines. It's a simple treatment which causes the paralysis of certain facial muscles to slow the development of creases, for instance forehead creases. Botox's advantages can be evident for about half a year, as it lessens the build up of a wrinkle. This basically means that the treated would be permanently six months behind, giving a continual, youthful appearance. The continual treatment of Botox can dramatically renew the appearance of your face, especially if combined with a regular skin care regiment.
When getting Botox done it is extremely important that it is conducted by a qualified clinician. Under improper conditions it might cause unpredictable side-effects. Court House Clinic is a highly-approved and experienced medical organisation handled by television's Dr Patrick Bowler, who has appeared in 10 Years Younger. Dr. Bowler looks after all of Court House Clinics to make sure we provide the most dedicated service one could hope for.

Laser Thread Vein Removal
Thread veins generally affect the body, legs and face. What causes thread veins is not known, but it could be inherited, and changes in temperature, smoking cigarettes, alcohol intake, and prolonged standing have been noted as contributing factors.
Laser therapy is ideal for non-surgical vein removal, by heating the problem blood vessels from the other blood vessels. Here at Court House Clinics, we make use of laser therapy for nose, cheeks and face, and encourage the use of Sclerotherapy to handle thread veins on the legs and body.
