The UK’s Leader In BOTOX® Treatments

BOTOX® is an injectable anti-ageing treatment used to smooth out wrinkles on the brow, soften crow’s feet and frown lines and smooth out bobbly chins and necks. It’s not expensive, is hugely common, and it can be done in your lunch hour.

If it’s your first treatment we offer a free of charge consultation; if you decide to proceed with treatment your doctor will give you the minimum amount and you then return a fortnight later for a review. Courthouse Clinics will offer a complimentary top-up, since the amount of injections required varies between patients. This volume will then be recorded and kept on your patient file so we can ensure your next treatment in 3-6 months will be spot on.

The injections don’t work on the shallower, finer lines that gather in the crescent shape under the eye. For this, we have other options:

I get my treatment done every six months. Before a treatment I remove any makeup from the treatment areas, and then I sit propped up on the couch. I have to smile and frown so the doctor can see where he needs to put it in, but I relax my face for the injecting part. Each injection lasts about three seconds. Any discomfort I feel is normally the bit where he does under my eyes, but it’s so quick my pain isn’t for long.

What exactly is BOTOX®?
It’s a toxin that temporarily weakens the muscles that gather your skin into folds, making it crease-proof enough to prevent wrinkles becoming established. A doctor can pinpoint which muscles to weaken. When injected, it attaches itself to the target muscle. Once it wears off, normally after about four months, the muscles regenerate and regain enough strength to start creasing up your skin again.
Are the treatments safe?
There are literally hundreds of studies showing that it is perfectly safe as long as it is used in the recommended amounts. We only use a tiny amount to treat wrinkles – less than a tenth of the amount used for treating conditions like Cerebral Palsy.
Are there any side-effects?
About ten per cent of people say they get a headache within 24 hours of having the injections. Nobody knows why – it’s not necessarily that it causes the headache. Headaches are normally short-lived, though, fading within 48 hours.

Whenever you scratch or pierce skin enough to make it bleed, there is always chance of inflammation. After your treatment you must leave your face alone – no makeup or touching for a good few hours. The wounds need time to heal.

You shouldn't have BOTOX® if you...
  • are taking muscle relaxants
  • have a muscle-weakening disorder
  • are pregnant
  • are breastfeeding
  • have alcohol in your system: the injections are more likely to give you bruises and alcohol can make the injections spread to muscles you don’t want to treat.
