Eyelid and Eyebag Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

As we age the upper and lower eyelids can develop bags, folds or wrinkles that can make you look tired and age the face. At Court House Clinics our experienced surgeons can address this problem with Blepharoplasty, the removal of excess tissue from either the upper or lower eyelids, or both if required, giving a fresher more youthful appearance.  This is one of the safest and most commonly performed cosmetic treatments and is usually performed as a day case.  It can also be combined with other surgical procedures such as a face or brow lift or non-surgical treatments such as laser skin resurfacing.  These options can be discussed with our surgeons during your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions – Eyelid and Eyebag Surgery

Will the wrinkles return?
Yes. During your medical consultation your surgeon will point out that the skin will continue to age. It is important that you understand that the ageing process will not stop after surgery although care of the eye area will help to maintain a youthful look.

Could I have a face lift at the same time?
Yes, the best results can be achieved when these two procedures are combined resulting in an overall improvement.

Will I need to take time off work?
Yes, normally 5-7 days is required off work. Surgery can be performed under local or general anaesthesia and usually takes approximately 2 hours. It is generally performed as a day case surgery.

Will I feel pain afterwards?
All patients will feel sore for several days after the operation and the eyes may feel tight. Pain killers can be prescribed which will help to ease any discomfort.

Will there be scarring after eye lid surgery?
In the case of upper eye rejuvenation an incision is made close to the natural crease of the eyelid or with lower the incision may be made underneath the lash line inside the lower lid. With both procedures post operative scarring will fade over time and become virtually undetectable especially with the assistance of make-up.
