Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty )

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that re shapes the nose. The nose is a prominent facial feature and imperfections are difficult to disguise and surgery  can result in a greatly improved appearance to length, shape or nosrtil size.  Our patients have reported increased self confidence following this surgery. In most cases the incisions are within the nostrils leaving no visible scars on the outside and you can expect to return to work and normal daily activiites about 14 days following your surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions about Nose Reshaping

Isn’t it mainly celebrities who get a nose job?
No! Anyone who isn’t happy about the shape or look of their nose can get it fixed via one of our Rhinoplasty procedures. You don’t have to be a celebrity to be miserable about how you look. If you feel less self confident because you don’t like your appearance because of your nose, then it’s time to talk to one of our highly experienced cosmetic surgeons who will discuss the options available to you.

What happens during Rhinoplasty?
You will have discussed what you envisage the final look to be, and having examined you, your cosmetic surgeon would have told you how realistic your hopes were. Having reached an agreement on what the outcome should be, the nose reshaping procedure will work towards achieving that. Reduction Rhinoplasty involves the removal and reshaping of cartilage and bone – your skin across the nose isn’t removed as it can shrink back to fit the new shape. Augmentation Rhinoplasty requires additional bone or cartilage be inserted. Bone can be removed from a number of places on your body – your surgeon will discuss this at your initial consultation. Cartilage usually comes from either your nose (there’s spare cartilage in the nasal area), or from your ears. Depending on the kind of nose job you need, you may require general anaesthetic resulting in a at least one overnight stay, or you may be allowed home the same day.

What happens after the nose reshaping surgery?
You will be advised by our experienced team about which painkillers they recommend for the discomfort and pain after the surgery takes place, and also about how to care for your nose. There will be some swelling and bruising around your eyes that could take a few weeks to disappear, the swelling around your nose may take a few months to settle. Depending on the type of nose job you had, you may have a splint that needs to be kept in place for about a week following the surgery. You can expect to experience some bleeding and will receive advice about techniques to treat this such as avoiding hot baths, alcohol and blowing your nose.

How much time will I need off from work?
With any type of nose reshaping you can return to work as soon as you feel comfortable doing so. There may be a few restrictions which you’ll be advised upon, but usually it’s more a question of whether you want to wait until the main swelling and bruising subsides before you go back to work.
