Follicular unit extraction

FUE is an advanced technique that makes it possible to transplant hair without the need for scalpel or stitches. Mr Mir Malkani FRCS, is one of the few surgeons in the United Kingdom who have trained and achieved expertise in the FUE technique that produces a scar free and natural looking hair restoration.

Hair loss is a non-discriminatory and most distressing condition afflicting both men and women for various reasons, knocking confidence and self esteem and having dramatic psychological impact. Sadly sufferers are often unaware of the range of advanced treatments available to them. The stigma around hair loss or baldness can be prevented by exploring medical and surgical options including FUE that leaves no tell tale scar. In fact the procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic whilst you watch TV or read newspapers and it requires no hospital stay and some people choose to go back to work the following day.

FUE is the removal or extraction of individual live hair follicles from the back of the head or indeed other parts of body i,e chest, back etc, rather than removing a strip of skin with hair from the donor site that may leave a long and visible scar. It is ideal for men and women with less advanced baldness and a good donor area at the back of the head. It is also an appealing option for those who want to wear their hair short and do not want to cover a long scar, or those who want to cover a scar left by previous surgery with FUE.

FUE can be used to recreate a natural hair line and can used in selected patients in conjunction with traditional strip surgery for maximum hair cover. It may not be suitable for those individuals who have very advanced hair loss and a smaller donor area and those with curly hair ie Afro-Caribbean.
