Facial thread veins, redness and rosacea
Court House Clinics are able to offer Laser treatment as a solution to the various causes of facial redness caused by thread veins, rosacea or other congenital birthmarks including port wine stains. Both the Harmony platform laser system and the Candela V Beam gold standard vascular laser are advanced lasers that can provide outstanding treatment for these unsightly conditions.
Facial Thread Veins
Facial thread veins appear when the tiny capillaries become broken and darken and although they are small, they can be very noticeable particularly as they increase and this condition can understandably cause personal distress.
There is a medical term for this condition called ‘telangiectasia’ and the causes are described as possibly hereditary and also associated with Systemic Lupus. These facial thread veins can just develop with natural ageing or exposure to the sun and are often associated with rosacea.
Redness (Flushing) & Rosacea
Rosacea is a facial skin condition which is noticeable around the cheeks and nose. Thread veins become apparent and little pustules (known as acne rosacea) can break out. The area flushes easily and in time the affected area looks permanently red with spots and pimples. This unfortunate condition may become aggravated by the sun, sudden emotion or climatic changes and can be affected by diet..

Frequently asked questions
What is the Candela V Beam Laser?
The Candela V Beam laser is used by medical professionals in specialist dermatology units and is recognized as a reliable and effective treatment for many skin conditions including congenital birthmarks, rosacea, scarring, sun freckles, actual acne and thread veins that may have appeared following radiotherapy treatments.
Please note that the Candela laser is only available at our clinic in Stockport.
What is the Harmony Laser System?
The Harmony platform is very successful as a treatment for facial thread veins, redness and rosacea and is available to patients at most of our clinics.
How are thread veins treated?
The first stage of the treatment is for the patient to attend a personal consultation with a cosmetic doctor when an accurate assessment can be made of the condition and then a personalized treatment plan may be devised. If thread veins have appeared on the legs, then the treatment that is most usually recommended will be microsclerotherapy injections (further details of this treatment can be found in our leg treatments section). Facial thread veins however respond best if treated by laser or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). Laser machines send controlled doses of light energy along the vein which convert to heat and then the vein becomes sealed and ceases to be involved with the bloods circulatory system and shortly closes and disappears.
Is treatment painful?
There should be no real pain suffered from the treatment, no anaesthetic cream or injections are required as both the laser systems that are used by Court House Clinics are designed to be good at treating sensitive areas of skin.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
You can expect the successful treatment of thread veins to take only 2 or 3 sessions, but overall redness may need at least 5 treatments for the required result.
How long do the results last?
When thread veins are successfully treated and no longer show they will never reappear. However, with a progressive skin condition such as rosacea new veins may again become evident and further treatment will be required, but this should not be for several years. It is possible to reduce the likelihood of veins returning by the preventative use of a sunscreen product (SPF15 -30).
