Frequently asked questions

Can any type of tattoo be treated successfully?

Laser treatment will effectively remove almost all tattoos but this cannot be guaranteed. The variations in size of tattoos and the concentration of various colours will necessarily mean that some can be removed more easily and than others. It has also been discovered that some dyes such as white, yellow, orange and some reds and green are very hard to totally remove and when fluorescent or acrylic dyes have been used they may still remain following removal treatment.

How many sessions will I require?

Each tattoo removal can be expected to take between 8-10 treatment sessions and these should occur at regular intervals, say between 4-6 weeks, for the best results.

Is the treatment painful?

A small amount of discomfort may be experienced. The treatment can produce a mild stinging effect similar to when an elastic band has been snapped against skin. If needed, anaesthetic cream can be applied to sooth the area and make you feel more relaxed during treatment.

Will there be any scarring?

Laser treatment in this case will deal with the skin’s pigmentation and does not cut through or harm the delicate surface of the skin. Any scarring therefore would be of an absolute minimum but they may appear some pigmentation changes. Hypo-pigmentation, loss of pigment, and hyper-pigmentation, excess pigment, may be apparent after treatment but this can be expected to fade and normal skin tone should return after 6 months.

How much can I expect to pay for treatment?

The actual cost will be determined by the size of the tattoo and will vary accordingly. They will be assessed as small, medium or large and can vary from £50 to £200 per treatment
