The actual word ‘plastic’ is derived from the Greek word ‘plastikos’ meaning to mould or form, in other words this surgery is concerned with re-forming any defects caused by injury, disease or that have been present from birth. Cosmetic or aesthetic surgery employs such techniques to improve physical appearance generally, but in this particular case it is employed to enhance the features of the face.
