Brow lift
An upper face lift or as it is more popularly known, a brow lift, is a surgical procedure that can smooth away wrinkles on the forehead and gently lifts sagging skin and raises the brow area to give a fresh more youthful appearance. Loose skin that has been resting between the upper eyelid and eyebrow can also be lifted up and that tired heavy-lidded appearance will be eradicated.
A brow lift is a surgical procedure that has been proved to give excellent long-term results with the minimum of scarring. Our specialist surgeons are on hand to discuss your needs and explain the various options.
Frequently asked questions
Will the wrinkles return?
Yes. A brow lift cannot stop the aging process but your surgeon will explain all such expectations during your initial consultation so that you understand completely what can be achieved by the procedure.
Who is the most suitable brow lift patient?
The most successful results are achieved with a patient whose skin has a particularly sagging appearance. In a case where there are also many wrinkles a non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment may be offered in conjunction with the brow lift as a complementary procedure to improve overall appearance.
Could I have eye rejuvenation at the same time?
Yes. It is has been shown that the most successful results occur when these two procedures have been combined.
Will I need to take time off work?
Yes, usually 5-7 days is required off work. Surgery can be performed as a day case or overnight stay depending on the surgeon and whether combined surgery is being undergone. The length of surgery whether under local or general anaesthesia will be approximately 2 hours.
Will there be scarring with a Brow Lift?
Any post operative scarring will be minimal and will be well hidden within the hair line. This will fade over time and then it will be virtually invisible
Why should I get a brow lift?
Generally patients would like to have a brow lift to take away the furrows so as to provide a more youthful wide-awake appearance and it is most popular in the 40 – 60 year age group. However, if you have an unusually heavy brow or deep wrinkles across the bridge of your nose and you would like these softened to enhance your appearance this procedure could be just right for you.
What causes these wrinkles?
Several factors in our daily lives can encourage wrinkles; even our own facial expressions will leave their mark. Diet and smoking together with how our skin is subjected to the rigours of the environment will have an effect. Discuss these factors with a member of our experienced team who can give advice and explain ways to keep your skin in tip-top condition to get the best from any such skin procedures.
How is the procedure performed?
Brow lift surgery involves an incision being made into your skin and then the particular muscles and tissue there under will be lifted to give the required effect. The small incisions that are made as part of an endoscopic brow lift are so tiny that there will be minimal scarring. If you have decided to have a coronal procedure then the cut will be larger but it will be hidden in your hair line and virtually invisible.
