Cheek and chin implants
There are several occasions when chin augmentation (Mentoplasty) and cheek implants (malar augmentation) may be considered either as corrective surgery in the case of a receding chin or to balance and enhance the natural contours of the face. They can also be successfully employed to rectify congenital defects and to balance facial asymmetries.
Cheek Implants:
Such augmentation can give a better definition to cheekbones and can plump out hollows which may give a tired and drawn aspect to the face. The result will therefore be a more pleasing and youthful look.
Chin Implants:
Depending on what is required and has been recommended as ideal for your overall appearance, the chin may be reshaped by reduction surgery on the bone or enhanced with an implant. Often such reshaping of the chin is combined with nose reshaping as one can complement the other in overall balance and facial definition.

Chin Implant Surgery
During your initial consultation you and your surgeon will determine your particular needs and he will advise you on the size and shape of the implant required.

Cheek implants can be done at the same time as other facial procedures if so required. It may be considered that a face-lift, brow lift or eyelid surgery would be enhanced by their addition and the implant can be usually be inserted through the same incisions.
When a cheek implant is being carried out solely on its own, an incision is made either inside your upper lip or your lower eyelid. A little pocket is formed to enclose the implant which can be neatly inserted.
Both procedures usually take approximately 60 – 90 minutes to perform.
