Eyelid and eyebag surgery
The delicate skin around the eye becomes lax as we grow older and the upper and lower eyelids start to soften and wrinkle. Folds and bags gradually develop which make the eyes appear tired and weary and this can have a premature ageing effect.
Now the experienced surgeons at Court House Clinics can offer a safe and effective treatment for tired looking eyes known as Blepharoplasty. This corrective procedure can remove the excess tissue around the eyes from either or both the upper and lower eyelids to give a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance. This is a very popular treatment which can be combined with other cosmetic surgery treatments for the face such as a face or brow lift, or it may be performed in addition to one of our non-surgical treatments such as laser skin resurfacing. You can discuss all these options and ask for full details of the procedure when speaking to your surgeon during the initial consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Will the wrinkles return?
Yes. It is important to realize that this procedure will not halt the ageing process and before undergoing surgery your surgeon will fully explain your reasonable expectations of the treatment and how long the effect will remain. Of course ongoing care of your skin does help to maintain the improvement achieved. We therefore include a free skin assessment with our medical aestheticians following your surgery so they may advise the best homecare regime for you to maintain the results of your surgery.
Could I have a face lift at the same time?
Yes, very pleasing results can be obtained if both these procedures are done at the same time.
Will I need to take time off work?
Yes. The actual surgery will take up to 2 hours and is performed under local or general anaesthetic. You will then need to take 5-7 days off from work as recovery time.
Will I feel pain afterwards?
There will be some soreness after the operation and for a while the skin around the eyes may feel tightened. Such discomfort may be relieved by painkillers.
Will there be scarring after eye lid surgery?
The surgeon will need to make an incision in the region of the natural crease of the eyelid when performing upper eye rejuvenation and in the case of surgery on the lower lid; the incision will be made underneath the lash line. Any resultant scarring will fade with time and become virtually invisible particularly with the use of make-up.
How much can I expect to pay for treatment?
Eyelid correction prices from £2,695 - £2,750, however if both eyelid and eyebag correction surgery is performed together prices £3,195 - £3,450 (regional variations apply).
