Frequently asked questions
Is it mainly celebrities who get a nose job?
No! There is no need for anybody to live their life unhappy with the shape of their nose. So if you dream of the benefits of an enhancement to your most dominant facial feature, then take the opportunity to talk to one of our professional cosmetic surgeons who can give you their recommendations.
Can I decide the shape of my new nose?
Yes, but there will be many considerations to take into account and these should be fully discussed with your surgeon before treatment.
What happens during Rhinoplasty?
When Reduction rhinoplasty is performed cartilage and bone is removed and reshaped. The skin across the nose is kept intact and will reshape itself naturally to the new nose shape.
Augmentation rhinoplasty however will require additional bone or cartilage to be inserted as part of the procedure. Your surgeon is able to use the bone from a number of places around the body and he will explain thoroughly before the operation what is intended. The actual cartilage already existing in the nose or from around the eyes can be utilised without any harmful effect but again this will be fully explained prior to treatment.
Surgery will usually have been performed under general anaesthesia and will have taken approximately 2-3 hours. It requires an overnight hospital stay unless your surgeon explains otherwise.
What happens afterwards?
A splint is applied in theatre after surgery has been completed and to aid the healing process and it is very important that this remains in place for at least 7 - 10 days to achieve the best result.
Will I feel pain afterwards?
Patients have not reported any particular pain, but you may feel sore and “stuffy” for a period and pain killers and anti-inflammatory tablets will be prescribed to bring relief during the first few days after surgery. Understandably there will be noticeable bruising around the eyes and nose for several week and this is quite normal. It will be 2 – 3 months before the nose is back to full strength and may in fact feel quite delicate in the first few weeks of healing.
Will I need to take time off work?
Yes. You must expect to have to take 5-7 days off work and you will be required to spend one night in hospital.
Will I have any scarring?
Surgery is usually performed through incisions inside the nostrils so no scarring is visible. Unusually complicated cases may require open surgery but this would be fully explained as your initial consultation.

For basic Rhinoplasty prices from £3,750 - £4,000, Septo-Rhinoplasty prices from £4,150 - £4,400 and for a Rhino-tip procedure price £3,150. (Note: regional variations apply).
