Having ears that protrude can have a distressing effect on levels of self-esteem with many children, adults and young teenagers suffering despair. Otoplasty is one of the oldest cosmetic surgery methods, and is a procedure that entails the reshaping of protruding ears. Though it is generally carried out on children between the ages of four to fourteen, this treatment is in fact appropriate for both women and men of all ages, and can therefore boost a patient’s self-esteem.

The surgery generally takes about two to three hours overall. Once local anaesthetic is administered to the patient, our surgeon will make a cleverly concealed incision behind the ear. Through a combination of removing extraneous skin, and reforming cartilage to adjust structure, our expert will adjust the ear into a more aesthetically pleasing form, so bringing it back in line with the whole of the face and head. Because the incision is made behind the ear, the resulting scarring is both minimal and discreet.
