Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a refinishing technique that can dramatically improve the appearance of your skin. Fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, stretch marks and sun damage can all be treated with microdermabrasion.
Microdermabrasion is essentially mechanical exfoliation. The removal of excess dead skin cells boosts new cell renewal, reduces pore size and prevents congestion. It also helps products to penetrate more effectively.
Skin benefits:
- Exfoliates and removes dead skin cells
- Smooths and improves skin texture and colour
- Gives skin a luminous glow
- Improves appearance of wrinkles
- Stimulates collagen production
- Promotes the growth of healthy new cells
- Ideal as a quick skin pick-me-up

How does microdermabrasion work?
A typical microdermabrasion session can be performed in less than an hour, with no “downtime”. Microdermabrasion is minimally invasive and as a result does not require the use of anaesthesia.</p>
Your face will be cleansed prior to treatment. Using a diamond tip wand, your aesthetician will exfoliate the top layer of your skin. At the same time a mild suction will be present as the microdermabrasion system gently removes dead skin cells.
The healing process brings with it increased collagen production and newer skin cells that look and feel more polished. Visible skin imperfections such as sun damage, blemishes and wrinkles are diminished. Immediate improvements will be visible, but more than one treatment may be necessary to maximise results. In most cases, a course of 4-6 treatment sessions will be recommended.
-
Is the treatment painful?
Treatment is virtually painless, though you may experience some slight pulling on your skin.
-
Are there any side effects associated with microdermabrasion?
There is generally no “downtime” associated with microdermabrasion. It is possible that you may experience some temporary changes in skin pigmentation or that your skin will feel as though it has slight sunburn. Additionally, you may experience some mild swelling or bruising. All of these side effects are temporary and should resolve within a couple of days. All potential risks will be discussed in depth during your consultation.
-
How long does the treatment take?
A typical treatment session takes between 30 and 60 minutes. More than one session may be needed to reach optimal results. Treatment sessions are often spaced 1-2 weeks apart.
-
What areas can be treated?
Microdermabrasion is most commonly used as a facial rejuvenation tool, but other areas may benefit from medical-grade exfoliation. Acne prone areas such as the chest or back, as well as dry or flaky regions such as the feet may see significant improvements. Our medical aestheticians will be able to provide you with more information on the day of your consultation.
-
How long will the results last?
The results will be long-lasting, but not permanent. Routine treatments will be needed to maintain your new look. Combining DiamondTome TMmicrodermabrasion with other treatments such as OmniluxTM light therapy and Priori® skin peels will magnify and prolong the duration of your results. We also carry a line of skin rejuvenation products such as PRIORI® Advanced AHA and Coffeeberry® NatureceuticalsTM, which can help you maintain your results at home.

How much can I expect to pay for microdermabrasion?
