Mole and Skin Tag Removal

Mole types are many and various. After careful examination and a detailed review of patient history of the unwanted mole by a specialist clinician, benign pigmented moles (nevi) may be removed by laser or by surgery (excision).

Although a small white scar is common after mole removal, the cosmetic result is usually considerably better than that following healthy tissue-destructive methods such as excision and suturing.
For removal of skin tags, lumps and bumps, this can be done by excision, laser or hyfrecator. At Court House Clinics we have dermatology experts who can assess and remove moles of all types.

Frequently Asked Questions – Mole and Skin Tag Removal

How does If I have a mole or a cyst is it dangerous?
Not necessarily. Not all moles and cysts are dangerous. Some of them are benign. Our team of experienced dermatologists will examine your mole, cyst, or skin tag and determine whether or not it is problematic. Most of the time patients will choose to remove benign skin lesions for cosmetic reasons.

Will a skin tag removal procedure leave a scar?
Most procedures that remove skin tags, moles and cysts leave nothing more than a white scar. The size of this may be determined by the size of what needs to be removed, and if you are at all concerned about this, our specialist team of dermatologists will be able to advise you about this before you commit to having the procedure. Laser treatments will usually leave the least amount of scarring, and your dermatologist will determine whether this is the best course of treatment for your skin tag removal.

How long does mole removal take?
If the mole is benign, then it is usually a quick procedure performed under a local anesthetic and takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Your dermatologist will be able to give you a more accurate time period when he examines your mole.

Can I go home immediately after my cyst removal procedure?
Yes. Under most circumstances, cyst removal patients can leave once the anesthetic has worn off, although you will need to have someone to take you home as you shouldn’t drive yourself this soon after the sedative. You will probably have bruising and perhaps swelling in the area for a few days following the procedure but although you will need to ensure you don’t bump the area if at all possible, you should be able to return to your normal lifestyle immediately.
