Introducing the camera that never lies! FACE (Facial Aging Camera Evaluation) brings a new dimension to the fight against ageing and skin conditions. Now in use at our Wimpole Street Clinic, new technology provides clinical measurement of surface and subsurface skin conditions.

Providing individual complexion profiles, the camera can reveal your 'real' skin age as compared to your biological age or with other women of your age and skin type. FACE technology uses multi-spectral imaging and analysis to examine your complexion for wrinkles, spots, pores, evenness, porphyrins (bacteria in pores) and UV spots. The camera feeds facial images into a computer that creates detailed reports, including skin health analysis, which can then be used to make treatment recommendations for clients. Skin expert Dr Patrick Bowler explains:

Q Do I require an initial consultation?
A You will be required to see one of our cosmetic doctors for an initial consultation prior to your face analysis being carried out by. Each face analysis session usually lasts for 30 minutes, after which you will be issued with your unique complexion profile for you to take home.

Q How does the camera work?
A Following consultation, your personal details are subsequently entered into the camera’s computer system and a series of digital and UV photographs are taken. The system then provides a clear, multi-dimensional portrait of the individual aspects of your complexion which contribute to your overall appearance. It concentrates on six facial features which evaluate wrinkles, spots, pores, evenness (colour variation in the skin tone), porphyrins (evidence of bacteria lodged in pores which can lead to acne) and UV spots (characteristic of photo damage, typically from overexposure to sun). Additionally the system then provides an informative comparison of your complexion’s characteristics with others of the same sex, age and ethnicity.

This unique personalised profile will then form the basis for a discussion with your cosmetic doctor or medical aesthetician in order to advise about appropriate skin care and rejuvenation treatments available to you in order to maintain a healthy and youthful appearance.
If required, an additional profile may be created for further comparison analysis upon completion of your recommended course of professional aesthetic treatments or appropriate homecare regime.
