Varicose Vein London
Ordinary veins operate by directing blood toward the heart through a system of one-way valves. In varicose veins, a valve no longer functions properly, which causes blood to pool within the vein. These unsightly veins form most often in the legs, are received through genetics, and, although experienced by older men, sometimes develop earlier in women, during pregnancy, for example. Typical symptoms of this condition, beyond the prominence of the veins in legs, are: pain, heaviness in the legs, mild swelling of the ankles with ulceration, and skin discolouration.
Foam sclerotherapy is an improved version of treatment for varicose veins and has been extensively accepted for quite some time as the most effective therapy. In the past, a fortifying solution was introduced into the vein that solidified, therefore blocking the vein from blood flow. Instead of pure liquid, foam is used now, since the results are greater and last longer. Once the treatment is complete, most of our patients are free to return to their usual daily routine.
