Rejuvenation for dark circles and hollows
This is a new non surgical treatment which is an alternative to surgery and is appropriate for some patients with lower eyelid dark circles/dark hollows known as ‘tear troughs’.
This treatment is ideal for: -
- Lower Eyelid Dark Circles
- Dark Hollows
Dark circles and hollows around the eyes are caused by a weakening of the orbital septum (a membrane within the eyelid) in the lower eyelid and a loss of soft tissue volume in the cheek area, tend to emphasize the appearance of lower bony orbital margin which lies between the lower eyelid and the cheek. This also leads to the appearance of lower eyelid fat pockets and together these can result in a tear trough depression, or a dark shadow. This is phenomenally difficult to correct surgically.

Frequently asked questions
Do I require an initial consultation?
Yes, an initial consultation will be required with one of our specialist cosmetic doctors who will assess your skin condition and recommend an appropriate treatment for you to achieve optimum results.
How does the treatment work?
Restylane hylauronic injections are given along the junction of the lower eyelid and cheek to help improve lower eyelid dark circles / dark hollows. The treatment is undertaken as an outpatient procedure and offers some patients an alternative and less invasive treatment for their problem with immediate cosmetic results.
Although the use of Restylane as a soft tissue filler in other areas of the face is very well established and associated with high patient satisfaction, its use for the management of ‘tear troughs’ is proving to be an exciting new application.
How long does this treatment take?
Your first treatment will take approximately 30 – 45 minutes.
Is the treatment painful?
The injections may prick a little, but normally no anaesthesia is needed for wrinkles and folds. For the more sensitive however, an anaesthetic cream can be applied 1 – 2 hours prior to treatment to numb the area. Generally the treatment is associated with mild discomfort.
Are there any possible side effects?
There is a reduced risk of the complications that can be associated with surgery, and a much shorter recovery period.
Occasionally contour irregularities can occur following the injections and these are managed with firm massage. The skin is very thin in this area so bruising and swelling is more common and more visible, but will wear off within one week and can always be hidden with foundation.
In order to reduce the risk of bruising it is advisable to discontinue the use of aspirin or any anti-inflammatory medicines, e.g. Brufen, for 2 weeks before treatment, provided it is medically safe to do so (please discuss this with your GP or physician if in doubt about this.)
How long do the results last?
The results are immediate however the general length of time the treatment lasts is specific to each individual. The result of this treatment usually lasts anything from 6-9 months before repeat injections are required.
How much can I expect to pay for this treatment?
Depending on how many syringes will be required for treatment of your condition, you can expect to pay from £325 - £650.
