Laser skin resurfacing
Court House clinics not only offers fractional laser resurfacing with the Pixel® laser, but also offers traditional laser skin resurfacing procedures using an Erbium-YAG laser which offers precision control and is effective in treating a number of conditions including:
- Wrinkles – including periorbital, perioral and deep skin peeling
- Pigmented Lesions - sun damage and age spots
- Keratoses (pre-cancerous lesions)
- Acne scarring – atrophic acne scars
Laser skin resurfacing provides a very fast way to reduce deep wrinkles and fine lines on the cheeks and around the mouth and eyes by removing wrinkled tissue in micro-layers with great precision until all the damaged skin is gone. At the same time, it stimulates the body’s natural healing process to create new collagen and produce a fresher, smoother, healthier looking skin.
This procedure works very effectively in conjunction with Omnilux light therapy treatments; our medical practitioners will be pleased to discuss combination treatment therapy for optimum results with your at your consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Do I require a consultation?
Generally you will be required to see one of our qualified laser specialists at least two weeks prior to treatment for an initial consultation in order to establish the exact laser treatment to be administered and to have the expectations of the procedure and the recovery time fully explained to you.
How many treatments will be required?
The number of laser treatments required will depend on the problem being treated, but the effects may last up to 3 - 10 years or even longer, however you cannot stop the ageing process and your bio-logical clock will still tick. The results also depend on how you look after your skin.
How long is the recovery period?
Following treatment you will be provided with a post treatment programme to care for your skin so as to promote healing and avoid infection. You will also be required to be at the clinic regularly following the procedure. It is usually recommended that you take 4 - 7 days off work following such a procedure.
Does the treatment hurts?
Immediately following the procedure you will feel as if you have a bad sunburn. You will have minor sloughing and itchiness the following day. By day two, redness will begin to fade and by day three any redness can be easily covered by makeup.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes, the laser is computer controlled to remove only specific amounts of the outer layer of skin. Both depth and energy is computer controlled.
