At Court House Clinics we use the Pixel® Erbium-YAG laser a new generation of skin resurfacing lasers with the proven effectiveness of ablative (deeper) skin resurfacing with the comfort and convenience of a non-invasive approach.

The laser is suitable for treating skin conditions associated with ageing and active lifestyles and it is an ideal treatment for those patients who want improved skin with lasting results. It is also used for acne scarred skin Due to this non-aggressive approach, patients can expect to return to work in 1 – 2 days.

This treatment is ideal for:

  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Pigmented Lesions – sun damage and age spots
  • Acne scarring – atrophic acne scars
  • Rosacea
  • Melasma

Areas which can be treated:

  • Face (including eyes), Neck & Chest
  • Hands & Arms

In fractional laser technology the laser beam is split into a series of dots in a grid pattern, just like the pixels on a TV or digital camera. The laser penetrates the skin deeply in the small spots which produces a wound healing response and new collagen formation whilst leaving normal skin between the dots. This means that the skin remains intact without an open wound and is able to cover very quickly. There is redness and some flattening of the skin for up to 5 days after treatment.

Anything from 3 to 6 treatments may be required at monthly intervals to achieve optimum results.

For optimum results this treatment may also be used in conjunction with muscle relaxing injections and dermal fillers to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and also with Accent radiofrequency remodeling treatment for skin tightening and Priori skin peels for pigmentation.

Prices from £500.  Discounted courses plus combination treatment packages available.

Frequently asked questions

Do I require an initial consultation?

You will be required to see one of our laser specialists for an initial consultation whereby your full medical history and treatment expectations will be discussed and an appropriate treatment programme planned for you.

How does laser resurfacing work?

The Pixel® laser generates a pre-programmed laser beam that passes through the pixel micro optic lens, splitting the beam into tiny dots which penetrate into the skin. It creates an ablative effect at the pixel area – a micro injury – without disturbing any surrounding tissue. The micro injured areas then start the process of healing as collagen remodels, skin tightens and the skin texture improves.

The Pixel® used at the Court House Clinics has also proven effective in reducing acne scars and treating younger skin for superficial sun damage.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment itself is not painful and no local anaesthetic will be required.

Are there any possible side effects?

There are virtually no side effects with the Pixel® Erbium laser in particular those associated with ablative treatments such as loss of pigment (hypo-pigmentation) or excess pigment (hyper-pigmentation) and post operative infection.

Following treatment however, you can expect to experience a mild ‘sunburn’ type sensation for 3 - 4 hours, then virtually no discomfort at all. No pain medication is required and you can return to work within 1 – 2 days.

How long is the healing period?

Following treatment, the skin around the treated area will generally remain red for 1 – 2 days and will feel tighter, with a smoother surface texture, although you can expect flaking to occur for up to 2 - 3 days afterwards with a full recovery in 5 days rather than 3 - 6 weeks for traditional resurfacing procedures.

You will be required to moisturise the treated area regularly especially during the flaking process and use sun protection.

Testimonial

When beauty therapy trainer Debbie Wooolnough suddenly developed severe acne on her face in her early twenties it threatened to be a major career setback.

“I have to stand in front of a class teaching skin and beauty care and understandably people would have started wondering why I did not practice what I was preaching,” she said.

“It really knocked my confidence and I had to start wearing special make-up to cover up the spots on my face”

But after becoming one of the first patients in the country to be treated with a new generation of skin resurfacing lasers, Debbie is now able to face her students with an almost blemish-free complexion.

“My friends now tell me that they have never seen my skin look so smooth. The result has been just fantastic,” said 25-year-old Debbie from Cannock, Staffordshire.

“I sometimes used to feel really down when my acne was at its worst but now I feel really confident about myself again. I certainly no longer have to wear special make any more.

“Everyone has remarked just how much better my skin now looks and that includes many of my customers.”

Debbie was in her early 20s when her face suddenly erupted in a mass of acne spots. “Maybe it was because I had been under some stress at the time and they got worse before they started to get better. As a beauty therapy trainer I realised that it was big problem.”

But luckily Debbie was able to turn for help to her former business associates at the Court House Cosmetic Clinic in Stockport, Greater Manchester that had just become one of the first clinics in the UK to acquire the new “Harmony” Pixel Erbium skin resurfacing laser.

Unlike its more radical predecessors, the new laser delivers tits beam in tiny dots through the pixel micro optic lens so penetrating the surface of the skin more gently and eradicating the acne scarring with long-lasting effect.

It is also used for skin rejuvenation and for the treatment of wrinkles, fine lines and pigmented lesions caused by sun damage and age.

“The old laser peeled off the skin but the new Pixel laser only treats about 30 per cent of the surface at any one time and is, therefore, much more gentle,” she said.

To eradicate her acne scarring, Debbie had three treatment sessions each lasting around 20 minutes with a one-month interval between each treatment.

“I have always enjoyed keeping myself fit and in good shape with regular visits to the gym and I am now longer long embarrassed about my skin when I take a shower in the changing rooms.” she said.

Her treatment at Stockport was carried out by Dr Richard Brighton, a specialist in aesthetics, who said: “Although the new laser is designed to eradicate the scarring, it also treats the condition at the same time.

“In Debbie’s case, it was used on her face but it is also equally effective or other parts of the body. Because it works so gently it allows the new skin to grow through”.

Laser hair removal

Welcome to Court House Clinics. Under the guidance of Dr Patrick Bowler (well known from the television programme “10 years younger”) Court House has grown to offer a huge range of cosmetic and beauty treatments. Whilst these cover everything from high surgery treatments such as a face lift through to cosmetic injections for lines and wrinkles, in recent times laser hair removal has become one of our most popular treatments. Laser hair removal is a great way to deal with the growth of unwanted hair without having to go through the day-to-day ritual of shaving. With so many people coming to us for laser hair removal, we are now in position to offer it at a very competitive price. We also have regular promotions on it as well, for both new and existing hair removal customers.

Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery is no longer the preserve of the rich and famous but is now accessible to everyone. This is largely due to safer techniques, reduced downtime with shorter scars, and greater awareness due to media exposure. It is also partly down to the larger number of people who have had non-surgical treatments before diving straight into cosmetic surgery.

The most common treatment that is carried out is liposuction (tummy tuck), rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), otoplasty (ear correction) and blepharoplasty (eyebag or eyelid surgery). These are often carried out in conjunction with treatments such as chin or cheek implants.

The most common surgery carried on women is breast enlargement (augmentation) and then mastopexy (breast uplift) closely followed by breast reduction surgery and face-lifts. However we are also seeing a marked increase for requests for labia and vaginal plastic surgeries.

Arguably the biggest change in recent years is the increase in demand for male cosmetic surgeries, with the most popular treatments being chest reduction, pectoral implant and testicular implants.

Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments

The demand for non-surgical treatments has grown at an even faster rate than cosmetic surgery. The treatments that are most in demand are laser hair removal and microdermabrasion treatments. These can mimic the effects of surgery or be used in combination with surgical procedures to enhance and prolong results.

For people with problem skin scientific breakthroughs now mean we are able to offer some of the best acne treatments available in combination with most effective anti aging treatments. For example we have invested in some of the latest acne laser treatment and when combined with chemical glycolic skin peels or perlane injections this can create similar effects as a cosmetic face-lift surgery and is very effect treatment for acne scarring.

Some of the non-surgical options provide a real alternative to surgery. A prime example of this is smart Lipo. This laser assisted liposculpture provides fast fat loss where the fat is actually dissolved by the body naturally. For small areas of localised fat this treatment is sometimes better than Liposuction as it is minimally invasive and involves little downtime.

In addition to these treatments we also offer thread vein removal, sculptra, perlane and restylane injections, skin tag removal, mole removal, cyst removal and laser tattoo removal.
