Female genital surgery

The groin is one area a lot of women are unaware can be effectively treated with surgery. Childbirth can, in particular, change the shape and tone of vaginal tissue which sometimes results in embarrassment and occasionally loss of sexual satisfaction. Surgery can be carried out on a number of areas and recovery times are generally very quick.

Labial reduction (labiaplasty)

Female genitalia are usually more or less hidden, but larger than average labia minora or ‘inner lips’ may protrude well beyond the ‘outer lips’ of the vagina. The most common reason that women generally request this procedure is because the labia are perceived to be too large and aesthetically un-pleasing as well as the fact that they can cause discomfort with rubbing on tight clothing, and cause friction during sport such as cycling or even during sex. Women with exceptionally long or unequal lengths of the inner lips (labia minora) can have them reshaped under local anaesthetic.

Vaginal Tightening/Rejuvenation (vaginoplasty)

The most common cause of an enlarged vagina is childbirth. Vaginal tightening is a standard gynecologic surgical procedure which tightens vaginal muscles and surrounding soft tissues, by reducing excess vaginal mucosa (vaginal lining). The result is an immediate decrease in the size of vaginal muscles. This procedure is performed under general anaesthetic.

Frequently asked questions

Female Genital Surgery – Vaginal Tightening (Posterior Vaginal Repair)

Who will benefit from vaginal tightening?

After childbirth it may take some time for the vaginal muscles to regain their tone and often women are encouraged to do pelvic floor exercises. However in some women the vaginal muscles may have become overstretched so that no amount of exercise will improve tone and in these circumstances surgery is the only way to improve this situation.

Most commonly it is women who have had children who experience an enlarged vagina. However menopausal women also may suffer from the problem. Many patients feel an enlarged or overstretched vagina affects sexual confidence.

How is vaginal tightening performed?

Surgery will address the tone of the vagina by tightening the vagina and supporting tissues and reducing the relaxed vaginal linings. The vagina is narrowed by removing tissue from the back wall of the vagina and tightening the muscles using stitches so they work more effectively.

How long does vaginal tightening take to perform?

Vaginal tightening surgery takes between 1 and 1 ½ hours and is both commonly performed under general and local anaesthetic but generally the patient would most likely be required to stay overnight.

How long is the recovery period from vaginal tightening?

The patients will be sore for two or more weeks and the surgeon would advise patients do not resume penetrative sex for 6 weeks following vaginal tightening surgery and refrain from tampon use for ten days after the procedure.

Can I combine vaginal tightening with other treatments?

If you are concerned generally about the appearance of your vagina, specifically if you feel your labia is too large or asymmetrical then you may be interested in labia reduction surgery.

What can I expect to pay for this procedure?

Prices from £4,000 - £4.250 (regional variations apply)

Labia Reduction (Labiaplasty)

Who will labia reduction surgery benefit?

Labiaplasty is the operation of reducing the size of the inner labia (lips) of the vulva. Some women experience sexual discomfort as a result of enlarged or asymmetrical labia (one side usually more prominent than the other), others experience chafing in the groin area when wearing certain clothing and some simply feel embarrassment when in intimate situations.

How is labia reduction surgery done?

Under a general anaesthetic the labia minora is carefully reduced in size by trimming away a suitably sized piece of tissue with the aim of achieving the most symmetrical result as possible. The surgeon will remove the excess skin from your labia minora, making the labia appear less large.

How long will labia reduction surgery take?

Labia reduction surgery usually takes around 1 hour, so patients are generally only required to stay on a day case basis.

What results can I expect from labia reduction surgery?

Patients who undergo labiaplasty can expect a more symmetrical appearance and smaller labia minora after surgery. They will feel more confident in intimate situations and happier with the way they look.

Q: How long is the recovery period from labia reduction surgery?

Patients are advised not to have penetrative sex for 4-6 weeks after surgery.

What can I expect to pay for this procedure?

Prices from £2,750 - £2950 (regional variations apply)

Can I have both procedures performed together?

Yes, prices from £6,000 - £6250 (regional variations apply).

Laser hair removal

Welcome to Court House Clinics. Under the guidance of Dr Patrick Bowler (well known from the television programme “10 years younger”) Court House has grown to offer a huge range of cosmetic and beauty treatments. Whilst these cover everything from high surgery treatments such as a face lift through to cosmetic injections for lines and wrinkles, in recent times laser hair removal has become one of our most popular treatments. Laser hair removal is a great way to deal with the growth of unwanted hair without having to go through the day-to-day ritual of shaving. With so many people coming to us for laser hair removal, we are now in position to offer it at a very competitive price. We also have regular promotions on it as well, for both new and existing hair removal customers.

Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery is no longer the preserve of the rich and famous but is now accessible to everyone. This is largely due to safer techniques, reduced downtime with shorter scars, and greater awareness due to media exposure. It is also partly down to the larger number of people who have had non-surgical treatments before diving straight into cosmetic surgery.

The most common treatment that is carried out is liposuction (tummy tuck), rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), otoplasty (ear correction) and blepharoplasty (eyebag or eyelid surgery). These are often carried out in conjunction with treatments such as chin or cheek implants.

The most common surgery carried on women is breast enlargement (augmentation) and then mastopexy (breast uplift) closely followed by breast reduction surgery and face-lifts. However we are also seeing a marked increase for requests for labia and vaginal plastic surgeries.

Arguably the biggest change in recent years is the increase in demand for male cosmetic surgeries, with the most popular treatments being chest reduction, pectoral implant and testicular implants.

Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments

The demand for non-surgical treatments has grown at an even faster rate than cosmetic surgery. The treatments that are most in demand are laser hair removal and microdermabrasion treatments. These can mimic the effects of surgery or be used in combination with surgical procedures to enhance and prolong results.

For people with problem skin scientific breakthroughs now mean we are able to offer some of the best acne treatments available in combination with most effective anti aging treatments. For example we have invested in some of the latest acne laser treatment and when combined with chemical glycolic skin peels or perlane injections this can create similar effects as a cosmetic face-lift surgery and is very effect treatment for acne scarring.

Some of the non-surgical options provide a real alternative to surgery. A prime example of this is smart Lipo. This laser assisted liposculpture provides fast fat loss where the fat is actually dissolved by the body naturally. For small areas of localised fat this treatment is sometimes better than Liposuction as it is minimally invasive and involves little downtime.

In addition to these treatments we also offer thread vein removal, sculptra, perlane and restylane injections, skin tag removal, mole removal, cyst removal and laser tattoo removal.
