Frequently asked questions
Is the procedure suitable for men and women?
Yes, the technique is suitable for both men and women who want to achieve a subtle younger looking appearance without undergoing a traditional facelift.
How is Silhouette Threadlift different from a surgical facelift?
A traditional facelift is a surgical procedure that requires the use of general anaesthesia and hospitalisation and the downtime and risks that accompany this. During a normal face lift procedure, the skin is pulled up and a knife is used to cut away excess skin. Instead of pulling and cutting away excess skin via surgery, the Silhouette Threadlift repositions skin and stimulates collagen production around it, giving the face a lifted effect.
How is the treatment performed?
The Silhouette Threadlift procedure does not require the use of a knife, nor general anaesthesia. Using special suture threads, this procedure counteracts the effects of aging by "lifting up" sagging skin on the face, forehead, and neck.
The Silhouette mid-face suture is inserted through a small incision on the temporal (hair line) area, using an attached straight needle. The suture goes through superficial subcutaneous tissue, exiting at the desired location in the lower face.
The sutures are then pulled backwards through the temporal area until the cones engage the fibres of the subcutaneous tissue of the face thus allowing mobilisation and displacement of facial tissues, suspending them into a higher desired location. The sutures are then fixed in pairs to the deep temporal area.
The Silhouette Mid-Face suture is different to the barbed sutures and instead utilises clear, flexible, absorbable cones. Once the cones are completely absorbed, tissue growth around the small knots will allow for tissue suspension.
How long does the procedure take and is it painful?
The procedure only lasts 45 minutes and is performed in clinic under local anaesthetic by a certified surgeon or doctor; the procedure itself is relatively painless.
Side effects are minimal, immediately following the procedure there may be slight swelling, bruising and redness afterwards, all of which usually dissipate in the first 24 hours.
We generally recommend that you take Arnica supplements to assist with the bruising prior to the procedure and following.
Will I need to take time off work afterwards?
There is usually quick recovery with minimal downtime. Although you can resume normal activities such as walking or sitting at a computer within one hour of treatment, generally patients usually return to normal activities or to work within 2 – 3 days. Strenuous exercise should however certainly be avoided for at least 5 days and facial movement should be limited for about 2 -3 weeks following the procedure.
What can I expect following my Silhouette Lift procedure?
Although results are often immediate, they generally continue to improve over a 3 - 6 month period as collagen encapsulates over the threads to further fill in the face.

Testimonial
Wendy Stallworthy ThreadLift Testimonial
Wendy is 49 years of age and works as a Medical Aesthetician in the cosmetic industry.
Over the last few years I had become very aware that my skin and looks were changing. I decided to do something about it and began having Botox. I had treatments for around 4 years, I was happy with the results at the time until I noticed that my skin began to droop and I was loosing definition around my cheek bones.
So I decided to take some action I did not want a procedure that involved major surgery and taking a long time off work to heal and recover, so I looked in to the ThreadLift Procedure. This seemed to be the procedure with the most natural looking results and reduced healing time. I had a consultation with the surgeon who made me feel very relaxed and talked me through how long the procedure would take, what to expect after I had treatment and my aftercare routine. He gave me time to ask questions and really put me at ease.
The procedure was very quick as it only took around 1 hour to complete under a local anaesthetic. After which I was allowed to go straight home. There was slight swelling and bruising over the next few days but nothing unsightly and I was able to return to work. It was great returning to work I could really see the difference and so could all my colleagues at work. I felt and looked great. I had the exact results I wanted my cheek bones were defined my skin no longer drooped and the whole procedure had not left me house or bed bound for weeks.
I would definitely recommend this procedure to anyone who is wanting a natural look with no major recovery time.
