Mole, cyst and skin tag removal
It is quite common to have some minor skin abnormalities on the face and other parts of the body. But these abnormalities can prove to be embarrassing for both men and women as they can cause problems with applying make-up, shaving or catching on clothing.
There are many different types of moles however they can usually be removed with a simple in-clinic procedure that takes about 20 minutes or so. After careful examination by our dermatology exports and a detailed review of patient history of the unwanted mole, benign pigmented moles (nevi) may be removed by laser or by surgery (excision).
Although a small white scar is common after mole removal, the cosmetic result is usually considerably better than that following healthy tissue-destructive methods such as excision and suturing.
To remove a skin tag, lump or bump, we would either use excision, laser or hyfrecator.
Note: You can resume normal activities immediately after any in-clinic procedure.
In order to alleviate any worry and inconvenience why not telephone our Customer Care Advisors today on 0845 555 50 50 and book in for a consultation with our dermatology experts.

Frequently asked questions
If I have a mole or a cyst is it dangerous?
Not necessarily. Not every mole or cyst is dangerous. Some of them are benign. Our team of experienced dermatologists will examine your mole, cyst, or skin tag and determine whether or not it is problematic. Most of the time patients will choose to remove benign skin lesions for cosmetic reasons.
What type of minor operations are available?
There are various procedures available to remove skin lesions such as moles, cysts, warts and skin tags. The methods of removal available are cryotherapy, curettage and cautery, shave biopsy and skin biopsy.
How would I decide which type of procedure is suitable for me?
You would have a full consultation with our dermatology exports, the various methods of treatment would be discussed and the most appropriate method chosen depending upon the type of lesion, the location and if a skin biopsy is necessary.
What is a skin biopsy?
A skin biopsy is a procedure which involves removing a piece of skin. A whole lesion or part of a lesion maybe removed and sent for histology testing for confirmation of the diagnosis. A local anaesthetic will be injected to numb the skin before the biopsy is performed. The wound maybe stitched or in some cases left to heal from the edges. Stitches are removed in the Clinic 5-10 days later depending on the body site. There maybe temporary (or rarely permanent) pigmentation changes and a small risk of wound infection after the procedure. There will be a permanent scar at the biopsy site.
What is cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy is a procedure which includes freezing the skin with liquid nitrogen. Cryotherapy is used to destroy abnormal areas of the skin e.g. sun damage, solar keratoses, pre cancers, minor skin cancers and warts. There will be swelling and sometimes blisters afterwards. The skin usually heals uneventfully sometimes leaving a permanent scar at the treatment site. Sometimes there are temporary pigmentation changes (rarely permanent) and there is a small risk of infection.
What can I expect to pay for a minor surgical procedure?
Price for removal of skin tags & cysts is from £250, however for the removal of moles, prices are variable dependent upon the chosen method of removal, you can however expect to pay from £350 - £400 which will include a full histology report.
