What conditions can be treated with the Microneedling?
Microneedling can rejuvenate your skin by stimulating regeneration and repair. It is a safe and natural way to improve the appearance of acne scars, post-surgical scarring, large pores, superficial pigmentation, sun damage and stretch marks. Following a consultation with one of our skin care experts we will be able to determine if Microneedling therapy is right for you.
What does the procedure involve?
Your skin will be cleansed and prepared for treatment. A topical anaesthetic will be applied to numb the treatment area(s) 30 minutes in advance of your procedure. Using a barrel-like roller comprised of thousands of tiny micro-needles, your cosmetic doctor will create tiny punctures in the surface layer of your skin. Treatment generally takes 20-30 minutes, in addition to the 30 minutes required for your topical anaesthetic to kick in. You should be able to resume normal activities immediately following your treatment session. Multiple treatment sessions may be needed to achieve desired results over time.
How does Microneedling treatment work?
The concept of Microneedling treatment is based on your skin’s naturally ability to repair itself after trauma or damage. Immediately following a physical injury to the surface of the skin your body reuses the damaged collagen and elastin fibres to produce new ones. Microneedling treatments use skin needling to create micro-”injuries” to your skin. This process triggers new collagen and elastin synthesis. Because the injuries are so minuscule, there is no risk of permanent scarring.
How do I know if this treatment is suitable for me?
If you suffer from undesirable skin conditions such as scarring, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation or stretch marks, you may be a suitable candidate for Microneedling therapy. Treatments work in harmony with the skin, making them suitable for all skin types. The best way to determine if treatment is right for you is to schedule a one-on-one consultation with one of our skincare experts.
Is the skin rolling process painful and does it make you bleed?
A topical anaesthetic will be applied to your skin to minimise discomfort. You will not experience any bleeding as a result of treatment, but the surface of your skin may appear red or slightly sunburned immediately following the procedure.
Can the Microneedling be used to treat acne scars and surgical scars?
Absolutely and Microneedling treatments are ideal for improving skin depressions such as acne scarring, post-surgical scarring, pitted skin and large pores. We will be able to determine if Microneedling treatments are right for you following an in-office consultation.
