At Courthouse Clinics only our qualified and experienced doctors provide our popular Botox® treatments to treat a variety of conditions. This is to ensure that all of our patients achieve natural-looking results that complement them as an individual, taking into consideration numerous factors such as bone structure and patient expectations.

What can Botox® do for you?

BOTOX® is an injectable anti-ageing treatment used to smooth out wrinkles on the brow, soften crow’s feet and frown lines and smooth out bobbly chins and necks. It’s not expensive, is hugely common, and it can be done in your lunch hour.

If it’s your first treatment we offer a free of charge consultation; if you decide to proceed with your Botox treatment your doctor will give you the minimum amount and you then return a fortnight later for a review. Courthouse Clinics will offer a complementary top-up, since the amount of injections required varies between patients. This volume will then be recorded and kept on your patient file so we can ensure your next treatment in 3-6 months will be spot on.

The Botox injections don’t work on the shallower, finer lines that gather in the crescent shape under the eye. For this, we have other options to treat these specific conditions:

  • ClearLift
  • Thermage

The London Botox Procedure

  • On your first visit to the clinic, you'll have a one-to-one consultation with your doctor to discuss your condition and the best medical procedure for you.

  • At this meeting, we will discuss the conditions you would like to address and the detailed 'before' photos so you can visually document the change after the treatment.

  • Then we’ll make you comfortable in one of our treatment rooms and make sure you’re happy to proceed. If desired, we can use a numbing cream beforehand; however this will require extra treatment time in order for it to take effect.

  • Your doctor will cleanse your skin and then administer the Botox injections and we will give you aftercare advice and recommend a time-scale for your follow-up treatment(s)

  • Please be aware that while the actual injections themselves can take as little as 10 minutes, the entire appointment could well take a lot longer, especially if it is your first time having a Botox treatment.

  • The effects of Botox aren’t always instant. Often you might not see or feel any changes until 3-5 days after treatment.

  • Individual results vary, but in general the effects last 3-6 months.

Botox Testimonial

I've always been conscious of lines developing on my forehead since I was about 22 and wanted to prevent them from deepening further. I heard from a friend of mine who is the same age as me that she had started having Botox and had great results from it, so I thought I'd give it a go for myself.

The treatment didn't hurt at all and was over before I knew it. The doctor made me feel very comfortable and acknowledged my concerns and treated them in the appropriate way. I'll never look back now, I'm so chuffed!

Questions About Botox

What exactly happens during treatment?

After an initial consultation with your doctor to discuss your aims with the treatment, your skin will be cleansed and prepped. Botox® is administered into the muscle under the skin with a small needle, which temporarily blocks signals that tell the muscle to contract. This gives the appearance of smooth, firmer skin.

What exactly is Botox®?

A clinically tested product that temporarily weakens the muscles that gather your skin into folds, making it crease-proof enough to prevent wrinkles becoming established. A doctor can pinpoint which muscles to weaken. When injected, it attaches itself to the target muscle. Once it wears off, normally after about four months, the muscles regenerate so the skin returns to its state prior to the treatment.

Is The treatment safe?

Botulinum toxin is one of the worlds most commonly used wrinkle treatments, there are literally hundreds of studies showing that it is perfectly safe as long as it is used in the recommended amounts. We only use a tiny amount to treat wrinkles – less than a tenth of the amount used for treating conditions like Cerebral Palsy.

Are there any side-effects?

About ten per cent of people say they get a headache within 24 hours of having the injections. Nobody knows why - it's not necessarily that it causes the headache. Headaches are normally short-lived, though, fading within 48 hours.

Whenever you scratch or pierce the skin enough to make it bleed, there is always the chance of inflammation. After your treatment you must not apply makeup or touch the area for a few hours as the wounds need time to heal.

Will my treatment look natural?

Yes, if done correctly at a reputable clinic. All of our injectors are qualified, experienced Doctors or Advanced Nurse Practitioners. We have an excellent track record treating a variety of conditions and specialise in creating a natural, refreshed effect, as opposed to the tell-tale “frozen face”.

Will the Botox® injections hurt?

Everyone has a different pain threshold, and as with any wrinkle injections there may be a little pain, but most people report only minor discomfort. It is possible during the treatment to numb your face beforehand with an anaesthetic cream – please ask for details.

What is the different between Botox® and dermal fillers?

Both are injectable treatments, but they work quite differently. Botox is a toxin that temporarily weakens facials muscles, by blocking signals sent from the nerves. Botox targets primarily dynamic wrinkles – typically around and between the eyes, and on the forehead – which tend to become more pronounced as we age.

It is an excellent anti-ageing treatment for the upper half of the face. Dermal fillers are used to contour and add volume to the face. There are a number of different types available. They are very effective at adding fullness to areas that have thinned with age, such as the cheeks, lips and around the mouth. Dermal fillers are a good complement to Botox as they works well on the lower half of the face, to achieve complete rejuvenation.

You shouldn't have Botox® if you ...

  • are taking muscle relaxants
  • have a muscle-weakening disorder
  • are pregnant
  • are breastfeeding
  • have alcohol in your system: the injections are more likely to give you bruises and alcohol can make the injections spread to muscles you don’t want to treat.

How Botox® works

Botox Face London

Areas treated by Botox

Botox® is an injectable treatment that temporarily blocks signals between nerves and muscles. When inserted in minute amounts into the skin it smooths and firms wrinkles and delays further fine lines from forming. It has been proven highly successful as an anti-ageing treatment but can also be used to improve symptoms of excessive sweating and migraines.

Courthouse Clinics’ Botox® courses are only ever provided by our qualified and experienced medical doctors. We believe this is the only way for our patients to experience the best possible results.

We offer Botox® treatments at Courthouse Clinics. For more information please contact the clinic on 0207 467 3809.

Aftercare advice from our London Clinic

  • Exercise

We typically advise patients to avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after their clinic visit. We also recommend that you avoid activities that involve inversions (where your head is lower than your heart), for example, yoga classes or Pilates. This helps to avoid Botox migration into other areas of the skin. You’re also more likely to touch or rub your face, which isn’t recommended, especially if you sweat a lot during exercise. Lastly, vigorous exercise can cause the Botox injection to be metabolised before it’s fully diffused, making it less effective.

  • Painkillers

The treatment involve minimal discomfort, so it’s likely you won’t need any form of pain relief afterwards. However, if you do feel the need for painkillers, avoid anti-inflammatory medication such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as these thin the blood, which in turn can increase the possibility of bruising. Paracetamol is the best option.

  • Alcohol

Alcohol can thin the blood and increase fluid retention – both of which can exacerbate the prospect of post-treatment bruising. To be on the safe side, we recommend abstaining from alcohol for at least 24 hours before and after treatment.

  • Air Travel

Many people ask how soon they can fly after having Botox. There is no hard evidence which proves that high altitude or pressurisation adversely affects the treatment, but it may be worth avoiding any long haul travel for 24 hours. To make sure, we suggest keeping yourself comfortable and hydrated.

  • Allergic Reactions

Serious allergic reactions are rare. However, if you experience intense itching, swelling, a skin rashes, dizziness or breathing difficulties, please seek medical help immediately. It is possible for injection sites to become infected, so make sure you choose a reputable clinic that uses qualified, experienced, skilled injectors.
