Botox Approved for Overactive Bladder

MS Trust reports today that, "The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has approved botulinum toxin type A (Botox) as a treatment for urinary incontinence in adults who have an overactive bladder due to multiple sclerosis, where the current medication has not been effective." Dermal Filler Regulations Need Tightening, says Leading Plastic Surgeon

Reports today suggest that leading plastic surgeon Dr Rajiv Grover, president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) has called it shameful that regulations surrounding dermal fillers still haven't been tightened up. Mr Rajiv Grover is outraged that problems are still ongoing with the legislation behind injectable treatments. Read the full piece here. Read more

Bread, Beer and Botox for a Nobel Prize

An academic journal reports today on some of the secrets behind the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine today, suggesting that bread, beer and botox are the key forces behind the award to James Rothman, Randy Schekman, and Thomas Südhof for their discoveries of machinery regulating vesicle traffic, a major transport system in our cells.
