Brow Lift

Natural ageing, genetics and environmental factors can contribute to undesirable fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead and surrounding area. Brow lift surgery – otherwise known as an upper facelift – is a cosmetic procedure that can dramatically improve visible signs of ageing present in the upper face by elevating the sagging brow tissues.

This surgery involves the skilful hands of a specialist surgeon to remove excess excess skin around the delicate brow area. The procedure can take around 1-2 hours and recovery takes 1-2 weeks.

Any scars will be concealed within your hairline and will fade over time. Sometimes a brow lift is carried out at the same time as a full facelift, but your doctor will access your skin during the consultation to confirm the extent of treatment you require.

The final results of the procedure will be long-lasting but are not permanent. The natural ageing process cannot be stopped with surgery. However, you can increase the longevity of the effects by avoiding smoking, excessive sun exposure and by maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Click on the questions to reveal the answers.

Will the wrinkles return?
The final results of your upper facelift will be long-lasting, but not permanent. A brow lift cannot halt the natural ageing process. To increase the probability of long-lasting results, you should avoid smoking, excessive sun exposure and maintain a healthy diet and exercise program.
Who is the most suitable brow lift patient?
A brow lift can address one or more of the following cosmetic problems:

Excess upper eyelid skin
Deep forehead creases
Crow’s feet (lines near the eyes)
Frown lines between the eyebrows
Low hanging or asymmetric brows

The goal of a brow lift is to create a natural, more youthful-looking appearance. If you are bothered by any of the conditions listed above, you may be a suitable brow lift patient.

Could I have brow lift and eyelid surgery at the same time?
Yes, brow lift and eyelid surgery are frequently performed alongside one another. Combining one or more facial rejuvenation procedures will enhance the overall cosmetic benefits of your surgery.
Will I need to take time off work?
You will need to take time off from work to fully recover from surgery. Recovery times vary, but most patients required 7-10 days before resuming work and other normal routines. Rigorous physical activity should be restricted for several weeks.
Will there be scarring after a brow lift?
There will be some permanent scarring following your procedure, however incision lines will be strategically concealed within your natural hairline. Visible scars will gradually fade and flatten over the course of several months, making them virtually undetectable.
Why should I have a brow lift?
Brow lift surgery can rejuvenate the brow and forehead by significantly minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Most patients are 40-60 years of age and seeking a more permanent solution to facial ageing than less invasive injectable treatments can provide.
How is the procedure performed?
Prior to your procedure, your surgeon will administer general or local anaesthetic combined with sedation. Brow lift surgery can be performed in one of two ways– using a traditional coronal incision or through endoscopic technology.

During a traditional brow lift, your surgeon will make a coronal incision that runs along the top of the scalp within your hairline. Following the incision, your surgeon will gently lift the forehead skin so the underlying tissue can be readjusted and remodelled as necessary.

An endoscopic brow lift requires four or five short scalp incisions, each less than an inch in length. Your surgeon will then insert an endoscope (a small camera with a light attached to it) underneath the surface of your skin to obtain a clear view of the underlying tissue. Using another instrument, your surgeon will readjust and reshape underlying tissues.

In both techniques, the skin will be tightly lifted to smooth out deep forehead wrinkles. Once the procedure is complete, incisions will be secured with fine sutures and the area will be bandaged.

How much can I expect to pay for a brow lift?
The total cost of your surgery will vary depending on the extent of your procedure. Brow lift surgery starts at £4750.
