Visiting the London Clinic

Our laser hair removal London clinic is situated a stone's throw away from the infamous Harley Street and is accessible via public transport and car easily. Once you arrive, one of our receptionists will let your dedicated aesthetician know that you are ready for your initial consultation. In a private room, your aesthetician will talk more in depth about your personal hair type and carry out a patch test with your permission. A patch test will be performed to ensure your hair and skin type is suitable for the treatment and does not evoke any irritation or reaction before the full treatment. The patch test will also allow your aesthetician to create a bespoke treatment plan after seeing how your hair reacts to the laser. This will give you a good indication of how many treatments are required to achieve your desired result.

During the Treatment

If your patch test is successful, your aesthetician will recommend a suitable course of action and you can easily make a booking for your first treatment appointment with reception. At your first treatment, the hairs will be trimmed to ensure best results if your aesthetician believes they are too long for the laser to have the best effect. Your skin will be prepped with a gel which cools the skin as the laser can feel like an elastic band being pinged against your skin. The handheld laser will be concentrated on the target area, passing over the hairs to direct the heat at the hair follicles. The treatment can last between 20 minutes to over an hour in some cases but this is dependant on the hair type and treatment area.

After your first treatment, we strongly recommend staying out of the sun as your skin will be highly sensitive and more reactive the UV rays. Protect your skin from sun damage by wearing sunscreen between your treatments to limit exposure. In the first three days after your treatment, we also advise you to avoid your regular hot shower and opt for a lukewarm to cool shower instead. As the treatment damages the hair follicle, your pores will be open and hot water will aggravate your skin. It is also suggested to avoid wearing perfume or using perfumed soaps. Regular laser treatments are required to achieve the best results. Not all the hair will be removed after the first treatments as these are designed to begin the follicle damaging process. After your first few treatments, you will begin to see a larger amount of hairs falling out. Avoid plucking or waxing during this time as the hairs need to fall out themselves due to the damage for the best results.

Laser technology is used to target unwanted body hair by using light energy to damage the hair follicles. The laser uses strong pulses of light which convert into heat to break down the make up of the hairs. This heat energy is absorbed by the melanin in the hairs which overheat and begin to weaken. As the laser targets the melanin, the hair removal laser is most suited to darker hairs to give the best results as the pigment is stronger.

laser hair removal London

  • Step 1 Hair Trim: Before the treatment begins, the hair is shaved to allow the laser to target the follicles directly, giving the best results.
  • Step 2 Laser Heats Hair: The laser is placed over the desired area and is converted into heat as it passes through the skin.

  • Step 3 Follicle Weakens: As the hair shaft heats up, the follicle starts to weaken and disintegrate.
  • Step 4 Follicle is Damaged: After the laser has been repeatedly passed over the hairs, they will become so damaged that most of the hair cannot grow back.

During your consultation at our London clinic, your aesthetician will discuss your suitability for the treatment. This will include looking more closely at your skin type and hair colour as not all tones and colours will provide the best result. As the laser targets the melanin in the hair, the treatments work best on highly pigmented hairs, with the best results on dark to black hair. Typically, red, blonde and grey body hair does not provide the best results, but we always recommend making a consultation to discuss with an aesthetician.

Virtually Painless Hair Removal
They say ‘no pain, no gain’ when it comes to beauty, but that’s just not the case with hair removal laser treatments in London. The only pain our clients report is feeling like an elastic band is pinging against your skin, but this can be subdued with our cooling gel during your treatment.

Quick Treatment Time
Depending on your desired treatment area and hair type, a session can last between 20 minutes to an hour with our powerful laser technology.

State-of-the-Art Technology
Our London staff use the advanced Soprano laser to effectively remove unwanted body hair by destroying the hair follicle.

Long-Lasting Results
Unlike other methods of hair removal, the effects of laser treatments are long-lasting. When your sessions are completed, the hairs will fully fall out and struggle to grow back which will give you smoother skin for longer.

Treatment Benefits

Women and men around the world rely on a range of hair removal methods which each have their own pros and cons. Read our analysis of the UKs favourite methods to keep hair growth to a minimum.

Shaving

Many people commit to regular shaving in order to maintain smooth legs, prevent a stubbly face or simply to feel more confident in themselves. Shaving doesn’t remove the hairs completely as only the visible hair above the skin is cut, often at an angle which creates a blunt edge and creates a stubbly feel when the hair grows back. While shaving may seem like a cheap way to remove unwanted hairs, this becomes a regular commitment to pursue and the cost of razors and shaving cream accumulates to a large sum during a lifetime.

Pros:

Quick hair removal.

Cons:

Regular commitment, hair grows back quickly, expensive method over time.

Waxing

In order to remove hair for longer, some people turn to waxing to get a smoother feeling for longer periods of time. Waxing lasts longer than shaving as the hair is effectively ripped out directly from the root. This may seem like a great idea to banish unwanted hairs, but this method can lead to a range of problems. Firstly, waxing is painful! Quickly ripping off the wax creates a burning sensation on the skin which needs to be cared for. Secondly, as hair is ripped from the root, pores are opened up which allows a range of bacteria to get in and lead to infections. Bikini waxing in particular can lead to bacterial infections if proper aftercare is not followed properly.

Pros:

Longer lasting hair removal.

Cons:

Painful, risk of infections.

Epilation

Both women and men use an epilator to remove body hair and can be used anywhere on the body. Epilation is similar to waxing as the process removes the hair from the root which prevents future hair growth for longer. However, as with waxing, this can be a particularly painful hair removal treatment as it is effectively tweezing out the individual hairs. When used on the face in particular, epilation can lead to redness and irritation. When used elsewhere on the body, an epilator can leave ingrown hairs behind.

Pros:

Removes hair for up to two weeks maximum.

Cons:

Painful, risk of ingrown hairs, risk of irritation.

Laser Hair Treatments

For a hair removal method which is painless, long-lasting and cost-effective, laser treatments work best. The hair follicles are not just removed with laser technology but are actually damaged during the treatments which prevents 80-90% of the hairs fro mgrowing back. The laser targets the hair shaft only, leaving the surrounding skin undamaged and healthy. Some clients describe laser treatments as feeling like being pinged by an elastic band which lessens during future treatments. Regular sessions damage the hair follicles, meaning you will stay hair-free for longer!

Pros:

Painless, long-lasting, cost-effective.

Cons:

Not suitable for hair types. Please see skin tone / hair colour suitability.
