Your Week In Beauty Links

From the sexiest body on YouTube to the craziest North Korean trends, and all the big knickered singletons in between, this is our pick of the week’s best beauty links…

Jessie J working it like only she can: This week saw the official release of The Voice star’s latest video for single “Wild”, featuring Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal. Ms J shows off a seriously toned body that looks healthy and strong. Watching this on repeat gives the rest of us mere mortals the best kind of inspiration for working it like a star: confidence. Does the trick every time.

The Rise of Korean Living Dolls: On Tuesday The Huffington Post showed some great coverage of the phenomenal increase in young Korean girls seeking surgery to look like real life toys. One mother even admitted that she massages her daughter’s face with a spoon to ‘encourage her face shape to become smaller’ and the girl’s chin ‘pointed’.” She’s been doing it for the past 16 years! Some of the images are a little intimidating, but it’s interesting to note the levels these girls go to in not only improving their appearance, but dramatically altering it.

The Beauty Giveaway of the Year: Over the next two weeks The Telegraph’s Stella Magazine is giving away a massive 14,000 products. From Sunday at 9am they’ll be five beauty giveaway competitions a day. There’s 200 of each product on offer, with “giveaway windows” running through each day. It’s a pretty serious operation, and we’ll be glued to our laptops seeing what we can snag.

The Science of Ageing: We’re not normally Radio 4 fans, what with all the watching of Jessie J videos we’ve to do, but their Linda Partridge piece this week was fascinating. Partridge is a geneticist, and discusses the processes that cause of our bodies to get older. Her life’s goal is to produce pharmacological treatments that will help us stay healthier in old age- yes please, Linda!

Bridget is Back: Jonathan Cape Publishers revealed that the title of Helen Fielding’s third installment
of the cult classic series is Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, to be released in October this year. We couldn’t be more excited for the ultimate body-obsessed, hilariously unlucky-in-love icon to be back. There’s a sneak peak of what’s to come with an exciting new extract:

11.27 p.m. Just presss d SEND. Iss fineisn’t it?

You see, this is the trouble with the modern world. If it was the days of letter-writing, I would never even have started to find his address, a pen, a piece of paper, an envelope, a stamp, and gone outside at 11.30p.m. to find a postbox. A text is gone at the brush of a fingertip, like a nuclear bomb or exocet missile.

Belles Boutique: We’re super excited by air hostess Laura’s beauty blog, a recent addition to our blogger list. We loved Wednesday’s piece on Susan Posnick’s Colouressential Lipstick- Laura is honest, straight-forward, and you just know that you can trust what she says. Her vlogs are especially awesome- go check her out.
